Niche ranks Conroe Independent School District among Texas’s premier school districts in terms of teacher and student academic performance, according to Niche. Students within its borders typically outperform state averages when taking combined math and reading proficiency exams.
Schools within the district are honored for their efforts in preparing students for college, earning a College Success Award. Furthermore, many high schools were honored for their music programs with recognition being bestowed as Texas Music Educators Association Districts of Distinction.
This school district features an extremely low student/teacher ratio and its schools are highly diverse; more than 57% of its students are white while 39% are Hispanic and 9% African American. Furthermore, its schools accommodate special needs such as gifted and talented, English language learners and economically disadvantaged.

Conroe ISD boasts one of the highest concentrations of top-ranked public schools in Texas. At the top is Mccullough J High School, followed by David Elementary School and Galatas Elementary School.
Skeeter Hubert, who serves on CISD’s Safety Committee, supports a proposal that would make student identification badges mandatory on junior high and high school campuses. According to Hubert, such measures would significantly strengthen campus security.

Conroe ISD strives to ensure all its students receive a quality education through programs such as Bilingual/EL Program and GT/ Advanced Academic Program, which focus on their growth both academically and socially.
Conroe ISD is making significant investments in technology to enhance learning processes and keep students organized, giving teachers and students access to high speed internet, curriculum-based software, printers and computers.
This fall, York District Schools are rolling out a panic alert system that allows students to summon police, fire, or medical services by pressing a button on their mobile devices. Pilot programs were conducted at York Junior High and Grand Oaks High Schools before being introduced across all schools this fall. Erin Mathe has been named principal of a kindergarten through fourth-grade campus within Grand Oaks High School feeder zone called Huskies Academy Campus that will utilize this new panic alert system.
